*hugs Canada* Although it sucks to be out of the warmth of India and into the cold, it's good to be back. You start missin the little things...like toilet paper. But I already miss India like crazy, especially my cousins and friends there who may very well be the funniest people on earth!
I don't even know where to start--what a weird/amazing country. The traffic there is the most dangerous in the world (and it rightly deserved that postion)--I mean, I saw 4 guys on the highway riding on the same motorcycle! HOW DID THEY MANAGE THAT? And this one guy sitting on the back of a mophed was carrying a giant slabe of marble on his lap. WHY? That's so random. I saw so many completely bizarre thing, it was just...wow.
I liked how holding hands with the same gender is platonic there, people here are so uptight about things like that. And I LOVE Indian English. Here are some translations of things written on the back of trucks:
HORN OK PLEASE (or some variation of that) = Please honk your horn when passing. (No one there signals, they honk. Driving there is a LOT of fun).
USE DIPPER AT NIGHT = Turn on tail lights at night when passing.
WAIT FOR SIDE = Wait for the vehicle to move to the side of the road before passing.
*~*~*
There was this mountain--the temple belonging to the goddess Naina Devi on top of it it was famed for--and the road up tp it was extremely dangerous. There were no side rails and all the turns where either very sharp or U-turns. The road wrapped around the mountain, it didn't go through so there was a wonderful view but of course it was also pretty dizzying. Our driver--as well as all the other drivers on the mountain drove like they were on the freeway! Fun, but really dangerous... Um, anyway, on the way up we saw these guys pushing their car up the mountain--we stopped to talk to them and it turned out the car broke down half way up.
The thing is, when it was time to drive back down, they still got into the broken car. They cruised down the entire mountain in a car that wouldn't turn on! The guy in the passenger seat just frantically signaled that they couldn't stop and to move out of the way to oncoming traffic. They took turns at 80km/h and could have easily driven off the cliffs! They would have crashed into the back of us had we not let them pass and they stayed right in front of us the whole way down. It was amazing--they were all laughing and enjoying it! Everyone there is a freaking daredevil... just insane... ...
Also, the guys there are so vain... They're constantly checking their hair whenever they find a reflective surface. I loved how open everyone is there--it's platonic for two guys or two girls to hold hands, snuggle, etc. It was refreshing, especially since so many people here are so uptight about that sort of thing.
Anyway, I'm too lazy to write more, so g'night! I'll picspam later

Just posting to say goodbye to everyone seeing as how I'll be in India for two months without a computer. I've been so stressed getting ready for this trip--I'm leaving in a couple days and I still haven't packed my stuff! The only thing I've packed is the stuff I'm going to be giving away... And I have so much school work I'll have to be doing there... And apparently, the house there only has cold running water, so I either have to take cold showers or walk down the street and fill a bucket from the communal water tap. And I've been told I'll be sharing a room with my brothers, but that could have just been them lying to try to irritate me... But, in the end, who cares because I just can't wait to be back in India again! It's WARM there!
Oh, our plane stops in London for a day! For some stupid reason, the thing I want to see most in London is a phone booth. Not Big Ben, not the museums, but a phone booth. I have no idea why.
Also, Happy Birthday to all the January/February/March babies and see you all in a couple months! :D

Something's wrong with my laptop...it says HP Wireless Assistant is disabled and when I click it NOTHING HAPPENS! The little button is on the ON position, too! What's wrong with it?? ;_; I wish I was more technologically learned. Now I gotta use the old 'family computer.' D:
Because of these laptop problems and the fact the cable wasn't working either, I did have a chance to see a lot of films.
1. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Everyone was so right when they said this film was cute because, OHMYGOD, Surinder is so ADORABLE!! I was just a little ball of squee, grinning like a moron throughout the entire thing! Also, I am absolutley addicted to that song, Haule Haule. So simple and pretty!
2. Ghajini. IT SCARED ME. But, throught the film, there were times where I badly just wanted to hug Aamir's character. ...Even when he was being freaky.
3. A Wednesday. Okay, I lied, I actually saw this a while ago. Still, it's good!
4. Re-watched Munnabhai M.B.B.S and Lage Raho Munna Bhai. I just love this series SO FREAKING MUCH. Circuit's always been my favourite character. <3
5. Re-watched Taare Zameen Par. <3333333
And I'll be in India in less than 3 weeks!! I'm so excited because at least it's warm there! But how am I supposed to do my homework there when the damn laptop won't work?!? D':>
Also, I drew pictures. But they're bad. But that's to be expected. And no HP this time! <:-O
( Pictures RE: TV show Heroes, Bollywood...and a cartoony self portrait. )
G'night!! :)

I'm SO proud of myself right now. The last week before winter break was filled with tests and here's how I fared: 98% in Math, 93% in Physics (it's gotten a lot easier since the beginning of the year), 91% in Chemistry, 96% in Biology, 98% in French and I'm not sure about the other ones. :)
Later, we had the Christmas Assembly and just like every year, I was reluctant about going but ended up having a lot of fun anyway. I sang my heart out to a Canadianised version of the 12 Days of Christmas (it was quite funny) and the Christmas Assembly at my school wouldn't be complete without the four 'girls'. ... Every year, four of my favourite male teachers entertain us with a holiday-style drag show with singing, dancing and everything. It just wouldn't be Christmas without our annual drag show.
This year, they dressed as Santa's helpers--exactly like the outfits in Mean Girls and preformed 'Jingle Bell Rock' complete with knocking over the stereo and getting the whole school to sing along with them. Yeah. My school is freakin' weird. I'm sure in a lot of places this would be met by calls from angry parents, but...hey, we're pretty open-minded about these things here. ;)
And, a friend gave me Our Dumb World by the Union and it's so funny...! in a very depressing/black humour kind of way. The pages for India were actually kind of sad, but it was offest by how much I love the Canadian section! Excerpt: ...the nation of Canada will never be as great as the U.S. so long as it continues to burden citizens with universal health care, refuses to drill for oil in federally protected wildlife reseves, and neglects its duties to blindly support unilateral invasions of Middle Eastern states... ....Canada's budget, however, remains woefully balanced, same-sex marriage is a sad reality in all 10 provinces, and the theory of creationism is denied to thousands of students attending publick schools each year. *g*
Okay, so they're saying there's going to be a snowstorm tomorrow, so I'm off to check that all the flashlights have batteries. Yeah, my life is just that exciting.
Oh, and have a safe and happy holiday everyone!

Overall, I've been naughty (-1227 points). For Christmas I deserve a lump of coal!

Write to Santa!
So were you guys naughty/nice? And also, shouldn't I get plus points for helping to hide a body?? I mean, isn't that just being helpful??
Oh, and yay--I finally got my nose pierced and got a shiny new diamond for it (I keep staring at it; I've never owned a diamond before. This and some India-trip related expenses means no holiday gifts this year, but I don't really mind:)). No one believed me when I said my parents were the ones who convinced me to do it--it's really common for Indian kids! They think it's some misguided attempt at rebellion. Oh, please. My brother and dad got their ears done and I'm happy to say I didn't whine nearly as much as they did. HA! Babies.
Oh, and DAMN YOU BRITISH AIRLINES! My cousins left for India a week ago (it was all hugging and saying goodbyes out in the rain at night, very cliche) and I sent some pretty clothes to other realitives and the airline lost them and is not being very understanding about the whole thing. <---Run on sentence of doom. Who knows who has that suitcase now? Some poor person's gonna open it and be blinded by the bright-as-holy-hell clothes that are the norm for me. ...Unless, you know, they stole it. In which case, they deserve to be blind! TAKE IT!
Also...one of my friends found out I've never eaten pie and is now on a quest to make me. She's writing a 5, ooo word essay on the benifits of pie (all fake benifits, of course, she said Einstein attributed all his discoveries to a steady diet of pie. Then he stopped eating pie and made an atom bomb. She also said if Gandhi was alive, he would eat pie because it's the most peaceful food on earth). She somehow brought the book, Life Of Pi into it, which has nothing to do with anything! Knowing I love mangoes, she sent a recipe for MANGO PIE! She said, "I went to a lot of trouble to find that recipe and totally didn't just Google it and click the first link." *sighs wistfully* All my friends are insane...
And lastly, because of the power of majority rule, I'm being dragged along to go see Twilight. I don't like Twilight. Like, at all. So for me and some others, the sole purpose for being there will be to ridicule it. Seriously, I'll be that annoying person at the back making choking sounds whenever there's a 'romance' scene. *pouts* I actually wanted to go see Slumdog Millionaire, but noooo, everyone's allergic to subtitles. :P

My mom gave me some of her old jewelry so I'd have some actual gold to wear to my cousin's wedding and OMFG, LOOK AT IT!!

I looooooooove it!
And we had a pog at the Gurdwara for a birthday and once again, getting enough people together made even working in the kitchens a LOT of fun! I finally had like-minded people to chat with (which means there were other teenage girls I could squee with about how hot John Abraham is or how cute Shahid Kapoor is). :P
And I saw DOSTANA! It was so good -- I was laughing so hard!

I made a list of random things I like. Because… Just ‘cause. Take that, homework.

It's a pretty sombre occasion with my family right now, but for everyone else:
I hope you have a fun and prosperous Diwali!

*hands you sparklers* I love you all! :)
My uncle died a few days ago. And so close to Diwali, too... I didn't know him well, but I remember him being quite funny. My aunt is taking it really hard--she's usually always laughing and smiling so it was so weird to see her. She was like... a zombie--she hardly even blinked. I didn't know what to do or what to say, so i just ushered the kids out and kept them out of the way so everyone could grieve in peace. Most of the younger cousins of mine still think he's merely sick.
The thing is, this has put me in a constant state of anxiety. This was the 29th death in my family that I know of in the last three years. Young and old, people here and all over the world--it's like everyone's dying. I'm scared to pick up the phone when the call's from India because the first thing that pops into my head is, "Who's dead now?"
Now I just can't get to India fast enough. I have some vauge underdeveloped thought my presence will keep everyone safe (of course that won't happen but I'll just feel better being around them). I want to go there and see everyone in case...I shouldn't even be thinking like this. It's funny how I'm thinking back now to when I first left India and all the adults were saying, "And when will you be coming back to us?" and I said "next week" because I was a little kid and honestly thought that. :P I can't even really remember anyone anymore. I remember faces of friends and family but can't place names. At least, with my family, I stay in touch but when I left, contact with my friends was completely severed (how is a six year old supposed to contact her best friend when he lived across the world and was too poor to afford a phone?) Now I'm just thinking "I wonder what they're doing right now..." (If they're still around.... GAH! Wtf, brain? Stop with the morbid thoughts!)
*sigh* I really do miss everyone...

I just came back from an hour drive from a gurdwara. The sweet rice was undercooked. *sadness*
So, sitting in the back seat, I threw myself into a conversation my cousins were having (both 8 years old).
P: I'll tell you who I have a crush on if you tell me whose yours.
J: Ummm... I don't have one.
Me: Preity Zinta. *cough*
J: No!
Me: His heart only beats for her! I can hear it now--Prei-ty, Prei-ty!
J: Oh, yeah, well, I can hear yours! Hri-thik, Hri-thik!
P: *giggles* I like Hrithik. He's pretty.
J: *rolls eyes* Boys can't be pretty, stupid. They're handsome.
Me: Actually, boys can be pretty.
P: Yeah. *turns to J* You're not one of them, though, 'cos you're ugly.
J: Mom!
Little kids are so amusing. :P

OMG! I got an A on my Physics test (just barely but still)! 86%! And I was just hoping for a PASS! How the hell did this happen?? Not that I'm complaining...! :D Maybe it's true what they say about chewing gum and doing better on tests...? Or maybe it's because of all the lucky charms I kept on myself. Or maybe (crazy thought) it's because I actually studied...?
Physics, you're still on thin ice, but (for the moment) I hate you a little less.
And now I'm off to study for tomorrow's math test... *grumble*
